Winter Show Clothing Etiquette?

Hi all..

I'm showing in a winter dressage show this coming Sunday. I have NO show clothes for dressage. What is acceptable to wear without looking like a complete idiot? I have tan breeches, and tall boots.. but no show shirt, and no show jacket.

What are the rules at the level of show you are going to?
Even a dark zip up sweater/jacket is ok, and a white turtleneck.
Dependent on the sanctioning of the show, you may even be ok in a sweater and a belt on your breeches.
Check with the show if you are unsure of the rules.

Hi Anabel..

I'm doing Intro A & B.. so nothing crazy fancy. The winter shows say "casual". Last time I went to a show (my trainer rode my horse) a lot of people were wearing tan breeches, and a winter jacket (not a show coat). Some were of course all decked out in their dressage wear.

I'm assuming this is a schooling show because they say "casual"? If it's a schooling show indeed, then you'd likely be fine to wear your tan breeches and a nice, fitted winter jacket in a conservative color. Obviously, wear your tall boots and a decent pair of gloves. Ask around to see what others are wearing, and maybe even call to see what is typical for this show. Decide on what you want to wear, and maybe bring a few more options in case you get there and look out of place :P

No, not the level you are riding, the level of the show. Schooling, used sanctioned, etc..? This will determine what rules you follow.
If you are in doubt, ask the show organizer.

I would say wear formal clothing if you can. That is, if you can make it happen before Sunday, I guess. xD

If not, a nice sweater or winter jacket will probably be fine. Do you know for sure that it will be out doors?

The sensitivity of the internet baffles me.
