I've had lots of fairies, pricess ponies, and unicorns go through every year. My mini looked great in a purple tutu and wings..... One of my mares wore a toga for the costume contest a few weeks ago with ivy braided into her mane. I've had a few indian ponies pass through. The "bath" theme is always cute if you have a horse that tolerates a shower cap. Bob Marley was present this summer, as well as a balerina complete with tights..... We had a debate whether the mini would be Elvis or SpongeBob, Elvis won the debate (I was really hoping for spongebob...) I've seen lots of hippies. One of my favorites that was very original and easy was a teenager in my 4-H group. She wore one of my many bridesmaid dresses and put big goofey glasses, suspenders, and a crooked bow tie on her horse, they were "beauty and the geek".

The only costume class I did, Gypsy was a punk rocker and I was the guitar. I found a really HUGE old harley davidson T-shirt, cut it open and put it on her front legs and safety pinned it to the saddle. I also put hair coloring in her mane and all over her body, but it didn't show up well anyways. And for me I cut a guitar out of cardboard and painted it. Heres a picture of it.

Anyways, I think that creative costumes are always the best and can be really simple too. For example somebody dressed their horse up as a cow by putting a cow bell around its neck. And somebody else dressed up their horse as Eyore (is that spelled right?) by putting a blue sleazy on it.

My dark bay warmblood and I dressed up as one of the Nazgul riders from Lord of the Rings one halloween. We totally kicked butt.

My sister was Yankee Doodle and "his" pony that year too!

My best costume ever was Little Bo Peep and her sheep! Obviously I was little bo peep. Then we covered a white sheet with cotton balls, made socks, a tail bag and mask all covered in cotton balls. My old pony truly looked like a giant sheep. Oh yeah, of course I won!!!!!!!!!!!!

The best thing I ever saw was the horse had like a cloth around there bum ( it was a skirt ) and a big letter on his chest ( for a team ) and he had a blonde curly hair wig on . HE WAS A CHEERLEADER !! His owner was a football player , it was sooo cute

^Words do not describe how awesome this is!!! Makes me wish that Scout was darker brown so we could pull it off!!

I love the suggestions in this thread! Some costumes I've seen that caught my eye are 50's Sock Hopper and Poodle (fluffy padding on horse's shoulders and fetlocks, floppy ears attached to halter, and tail braided up and put in a bun at the bottom of the bone), Rocking Horse and Raggedy Ann, and Mouse and Cheese (horse as cheese wedge).

Thanks so much everyone! They are amazing ideas!
I have decided what I am going to do, Lena will be Eeyore, and I will be Pooh Bear xD

Here are my plans I drew up for lena's costume:

What do you all think?

**oh, also I forgot to put on there, I will wrap her tail with vet wrap, then put a homemade material tail bag over top to make it look soft, and put a big button on the top, and some sort of fluffy black stuff for the bottom of the tail :)**

Horse costume

Here's what I did and it turned out so good. I dressed my horse and myself the same. I took a pair of denim bib overalls, cut them in the back to be able to pull the legs through. I then got a big oversized, red, flannel shirt and stuffed it with filler. I actually put the shirt over his neck and draped it over him. I then got an old straw hat and cut out ear holes and put it on him. I also used some bandanas around his neck. I dressed just like him only I wore jeans. You just have to make sure he has room in the bibs to be able to take a stride.
