I show, but not very seriously -- mostly just local shows.
I started out showing my uncle's mare (Dio's dam) in Western Pleasure-type classes and a bit of halter, then doing the same with Ruby once I got her. (And eventually I started riding Ruby in Plug).
Then I outgrew Ruby and made a few attempts at showing Dio, but never really got far with that.
I showed both Bandit and Dante in halter classes as weanlings, yearlings, and 2-year-olds (as part of my master plan to desensitize them to /everything/.) and now only occasionally show them in halter.
And now... I show Magic and Tanner in speed shows, and occasional pleasure classes.
I started showing last year at 24 in Hunter classes. I didnt do well last year but in 3 shows this year I have brought home 13 ribbons out of 15 classes. Its never to old to start showing. Our barn even just started up a Moms class!
I've done quite a bit of reining with my mare the past 3 years.. The odd breed show here and there as well, besides 4-H and other open shows when I was younger. However, due to a soft tissue injury, we were out for a while and now we're just settling into trail riding even though she could easily go back into full work.
Just found out how much my boyfriend and his kids love riding, so I'm thinking I'll be sticking to trail riding.. Easier on the wallet! Ha ha
