Horsemanship/Western pleasure...

Would it be weird if I wore a horsemanship top on a western pleasure class?
I absolutely fell in love with one, the colors, collar, and all the bling was just what I was wanting, but I mainly show western pleasure.

I'd assume in 4H or open shows this would be acceptable, but I'm just starting A/B/breed shows and have no idea if its even okay :P

Yes! The main difference between the two is, horsemanship tops are about showing off clean lines, minimizing the appearance of movement and overall presenting a nice clean silhouette to the judge, where as western pleasure tops tend to be more about attracting attention in general. Nearly all of horsemanship tops will transfer well to WP. As long as its got some bling (and you say it does) you'll be fine!

Would love to see some pictures though, if you can post them

WHEW! Okay, I just needed to make sure!! I'm still learning all of this show stuff (I'm the only horse person in the family, and sometimes it's hard to get everything from google-ing it!)

I think it's going to go great, right now I have black chaps and boots, a super blingy belt with those 2" giant rectangle crystals on it, the switchit diamond necklace from hobby horse (Hobby Horse Clothing Co. - SwitchIt Diamond Necklace)
And now my shirt!

I just got it today and fell even more in love with it

I'm planning on eventually getting some purple chaps and boots too. I have a very creamy palomino and I heard wearing darks on light horses looks best? :)

Neat shirt! It will be fine for WP. Purple chaps will look good and if you want to use the same shirt on a bay or black, cream colored chaps would make that a cool looking outfit on a darker horse.

Cream colored hat would go with all of the outfits and tie it all together. If you get custom dyed boots that's a good look, I tend to stick with my favorite black or brown boots but that's just because I'm lazy about things like custom coloring.

Thanks! That's what I heard, light outfits on dark horses tend to look best, and dark outfits on light horses. :)

I didn't even know they did custom dyed boots?!

Do you know where I could buy show quality hats?

Thanks for the advice :)

Ebay or look around the barns at a big show near you. This time of the year is great for picking up used clothes the show season is almost over. The big shows are coming in up so people want new stuff.
Horsemanship you want to have the same color comeing from under your arm pit down your leg. It makes you look taller and shows less movement.
