She's a Missouri Fox Trotter. They're shown in sort of hybrid tack.
Here's a picture (it's too big to post): http://mda.mo.gov/articles/img/foxtrotjim1.jpg
Men wear suits with cowboy hats and western boots. The jeans he's wearing in the picture aren't typical. Women wear more casual suits that look more western with western boots. Women don't wear hats.
The horses are shown in western saddles and pads and a MFT bridle. The bridle has a throatlatch and a noseband, but has a colored vinyl noseband and browband. The show halter is exactly the same, but without the bit.
The rules for bits are the same as western (snaffle/bosal okay for horses under 6) but they are always ridden two-handed, regardless of the bit. The exceptions to that rule are the versatility classes such as reining, cutting, trail, etc. Those have to be done one-handed.
For this show, I dressed a little more western than I would have at a MFTHBA show, so as not to freak anybody out... haha. Also, I was borrowing most of my clothes from QH people. The judge didn't know a thing about gaited horses, anyway.
