It *seems* to me that dark oil is on its way back in style again. (Yay.) Dale Chavez is still my favorite brand. The key thing with show halters is the fit. You can make a $1500 halter look like crap or a $50 halter look awesome just by fit alone. Secondly, wrap-around silver really does add a bit of 'je ne sais quoi' to the entire picture; it looks more polished and finished. If you're doing stones, make them neutral; clear, brown, burgundy... something along those lines. Take my advice with a grain of salt, I'm parroting what my (World Champion) colleague tells me, and I could be mis-parroting him.
I love Chavez too. His saddles a beautiful. I haven't looked much into his halters though. The wrap around silver is an interesting idea, I will definatley look at them. I do know how to properly fit my halter, and I totally agree that fit is EVERYTHING!!!! Thank you for your input!
Perhaps check out some of the show magazines, or go to shows & perhaps see what other horses of this color are "wearing"? Seriously this would be a good way to see what looks good on others & may help you narrow your selection.
