Trail competition

Gidget and I are going on to our first competition this Sunday.

I am wearing a nice plaid purple, short sleeve,button up shirt,fitted jeans and brown boots. I need to get a cowboy/cowgirl hat.

I was wondering if I should polish her up a bit by painting her hooves clear,clipping whiskers,and bathing her.Also my shirt is long but would it be best if it was tucked in?

I would look as polished as possible but not go overboard. A professional presentation is nice. I clipped mine and would where a nice shirt tucked in but I wouldn't do hoof polish. Looks like you are trying to hard. I am not giving mine a bath but if mine looked dirty I might.

Depends on the show. The horses that ride in trail classes here have banded manes, hoof polish, are bathed, clipped, and shining even in schooling shows.

I never had the money to go as overboard as they did, but I would make your horse look as good as possible. Hoof polish doesnt hurt in my opinion. If you don't want to do her mane, just brush it and get it laying flat on one side (hair spray works wonders!)

I might be confused. Is it a competition or a trail class?
If it is a trail class at a show then you need to be polished to the max.
Out on the 6-10 mile rides is what I was thinking when you said competition

It's a trail class.
I'm going to do 2 classes.
Hats and boots have to be worn.

Anyways, my horse's mane is roached.
I am going to braid her tail and weave ribbon in it and I do think I will do some
Polish and clip the whiskers and ears.

I don't have a show saddle or anything but most of them just use their regular ones. I have a barrel saddle and a dark oil breast collar and I am also using my mom's bridle so it all matches.
