Western Pleasure Outfits

Hey guys! I always love to shop (expecially for show clothes!) I am more looking for western pleasure stuff (showmanship too). Also, I need a new pair of chaps, I'd LOVE to get a coloured pair :) So, my question is... Where do you guys shop? (preferably online) and if you could give me links that would be great! I don't really care about the prices, because even if I can't afford it, I still love to look!

Rods.com - Western Wear and Clothing, Western Decor, Cowboy Boots, Hats, Horse Tack and more - Rod's: they're usually very reasonable if you're on a budget.
Hobby Horse Clothing Co. - Horse Show Apparel, Attire, Accessories - Hobby Horse: Always has a decent selection and their annual broken heart sale is going on now.
Smith Brothers - Smith Brothers: is another good one they have a lot of the hobby horse stuff too.

The only down side to those is that a LOT of people on a budget get their clothes from Hobby Horse and the like, so you run a higher risk of showing up with the same outfit as one of your competitors.
Check out ebay for some good deals on custom made shirts (some times they are crazy expensive sometimes not.

AND if you are up for a road trip the Quarter Horse Congress is going on in October in Ohio. They have a monstrous trade show with enough sparkly rhinestone tops to make your eyes bleed lol. Prices there range from around $50 (if you're lucky enough to find some) to well over $1,000.

Ebay has a lot of nice stuff, some cheap some not so cheap! I sent one lady some material that I just had to have and she made the shirt for me at a very reasonable price.

If you want to just look check out www.Berryfit.com, their jackets are wow, wow, wow! I priced one I liked at Congress last year and it was $3700! Not in my budget but they are sure gorgeous!

I am fortunate to have grown up with a seamstress/tailor in the family, my gma went to Vogue Millinery school in the 50s and can still tailor anything. We'd come up with what we liked and she'd make it.

You might look for someone in your local area that does tailoring & sewing. You can save a bunch of money having them made if you find the right person. Finding fabric is the hard part for me these days, all of the fabric stores have gone by the wayside or carry basic quilting & craft type stuff. I ordered the last stuff from Mood in NY.

Ebay does have quite a bit of stuf. I mainly need chaps but Im kind of an awkward shaped person haha my calves are bigger but then when I find one where the calves fit, the waist and thighs are to big! So I can't find anything that will work, and everything iI've found, is really pricey, So I'm on a mission to find those. Plus I'd like a new show outfit for next show season. What colours do you guys like on chestnuts? He's VERY orange.

Dang I wanna say Rod's used to do custom chaps where you could send in your measurements and they'd make them to fit. Ask around at shows and/or barns to see if they can recommend anyone who does good custom chaps. Those are the way to go really because everyone is shaped differently and off the rack chaps very rarely fit anyone perfectly. Just be prepared to pay between 200-500 for a decent pair of custom chaps.

As far as colors go. I think a complimentary color would look good. Blue compliments orange. I think a lighter blue would look really snazzy on a sorrel horse.

Yes! I said blue too! My grandma (who is quite good at sewing) offered to attempt to make me a jacket :) So, Im going to look at fabric and purchase a pattern. I found some nice chaps at rods that look pretty good, but I want to measure myself again before I buy ANYTHING! Thank you guys- feel free to post more if you find any!

I like blues on sorrels as well. Hobby horse has a good color wheel on their site you could check out. Pick up a QH journal or similar magazine that has tons of ads to check out.

The color wheel on Hobby Horse is excellent. All the colors that I have been complimented on when I show match up to the color wheel choices.
