As far as what to show him in, try a bit of everything to see what you enjoy the most together. A lot of 4-H clubs host open fun shows that are ride all day for a low price and ribbons only. I take all my greenies to a few of them for their first trips out before spending more money on breed shows.

Tack- don't let yourself get hung up on color. Find what fits him and you the best. I don't show in it but my fave saddle to ride is 75 yrs old and has a naked woman riding pegasus tooled into the seat. I take it trail riding, big conversation starter and earns me cred with the hubby's buddies LOL!

Colors- I am a huge sucker for royal blue on a grey.

Good luck!!!

Thanks guys! I'll probably show him a bit around town, more than likely through 4-H and let y'all know how it goes. :)

He's got decent confo. If not showmanship can always be an option(where you're the one judged and the horse is just a prop)
-Scars sometimes affect scores but not always I've got a mare with a split hoof and she's never come out with anything less than a 2nd :)

I actualy quite like him.

I don't know if you can get it over there but here we have supreme white cover magic spray.
It is brilliant for hideing scars and once dry doesnt rub off onto judges like normal makeup can do
Supreme (Equestrian) Products Ltd Cover Magic 400ml

RIDE your horse FORWARDS and keep him STRAIGHT
