AP or Shaped Pad for Jumpers?...

I'm at a loss. I've been told several times that I need a shaped pad to show in Jumpers. But I don't recall seeing a shaped pad being used more than a couple times. Is it okay to show in a nice AP pad?

Like jumpers as in speed or over fences? If you are showing hunter over ences, you need either a half pad or a white or black shaped pad. White is nicer. If you are showing jumper, you won't be judged on how you look. You can use anything. Shaped pad, half pad, AP pad (w/ or w/o a half pad)

Yep, Speed Jumper not hunter over fences.
Thank you! I was really confused and AP pads are a cheaper so that will help cut costs. Plus I think they look better. :b

No, you don't need a shaped pad for jumpers, an all purpose one is fine. I usually have a baby pad and then wear a half pad underneath the saddle :)

White AP pads are most popular for Jumpers. Many riders use a half pad over them. I've also seen the Euro cut pads in Jumper classes.

You can use a nice white, black, navy or other subtile colored AP pad for jumpers and
I usually use a bounce/riser/half pad depending on the horse. It's ok to use a fitted sheepskin pad, but its more of a hunter thing. Just make sure whatever pad(s) you use, they are clean and hair free for any show.

I just got my show pad in the mail, white ap pad with a subtle silver rope around the edges. I think it looks fantastic on her. (:
