    Red face Circuit Show Nerves!

    Hi there everyone!

In a few weeks I'm doing my first out of town show. It's in Mississippi and its a circuit show a.k.a. A "C" show. Would someone please explain to me what a "C" show is?

I'm doing jumpers (2'6-2'9) and I am SUPER nervous! That's the lowest level and it's still one level higher than what I usually do at local shows! My biggest concern is remembering the course, making the turns, and getting around safely...and oh yeah, having fun of course!

I could honestly care less about how we place, I'm just doing it for the experience and fun of it. My biggest goal is to just have a good ride!

Since switching trainers, we have gone back to the straight lines etc. to really get a better foundation. We have only taken two jumper lessons since and the show is in like three weeks! Oh, and I won't be here for one of the weekends! YIKES!

I trust my trainer, she is getting us ready and would never put us in something she knew we could not do, but I'm just really nervous!

I guess I'm just asking for some support and encouraging words! And the answer to the "what's a C show question."

    Thank ya!

I would assume you're doing a USEF show since you mentioned jumpers. If that's true, USEF ranks its shows AA, A, B, and C. AAs are the big shows, e.g. Devon, National Horse Show, etc. C rated shows are ususally local-type shows. It's a good jumping off point (pardon the pun) for someone at your level.

You'll have a blast. 2'9" is a nice, easy height. Usually, if I'm fearful of a height I'll be jumping, I'll go out and jump something really massive ahead of time. LOL. (I'm not saying you should do that, though. I've just ridden the hunters for 30 years so I know what works for me.) The other day I did cross country with my boy at a friend's house. Honestly, I don't think I'll ever be afraid of "stadium" jumps again. That scared crap out of me. (All you guys who do X-country on a regular basis...you have my utmost respect. )
