    First Show!

Walter has his first show this weekend! It is the Spring Appaloosa Show, but he will be entered in the open halter classes while we wait for his registration to come back. I am very excited. My cousin will be showing him, as well as a 3 year old stud of theirs.

I hope Walter does well, but that's not top of the list. It will be his first time away since he arrived at the barn in October, and I hope this is a great learning experience for both of us.

I will post pictures after the show for sure! Tomorrow he needs a bath and facial clipping. It should be fun!

I ended up using QAR King of Cool which is what I'll be registering his Canadian name as. His US papers should be back in a couple weeks.

He did good for his first time away from home!

We trailered out late because my uncle was has problems with the trailer lights. We got there around 10, and then had to bathe 3 horses, and clip Walter. He is not a fan of the hose, or having his ears clipped. It was a little bit of a hack job!

We discovered when we were bathing his has some lice :(

He did his first open halter class against three other apps, who also showed in the app classes. Open you could win money instead of ribbons. He got fourth, but he trotted out and stood excellently. I was a proud momma!

Around noon my cousin and uncle both rode him in the warm up arena. He did fabulous in the new strange arena.

This morning he did the halter again, but again got fourth.

We also discovered he needs to see the vet because of a mouth/teeth problem. The past week or so he has been slimy. Like collecting hay in his cheeks and then having BIG green slim balls to spit out on everyone. Poor baby. So I'm calling the vet tomorrow. He looks a little ribby too, so this may have contributed to his bad placings lol. This may also be due to his mouth/teeth problems.

There is another App show in a month, and I will be trying to get him more halter fit. He will have his papers back, and I will try to have them submitted to the Canadian club, which will allow him to show in the App portion, so long as his papers are submitted for.

All in all I am very happy with this weekend. He did a lot of new things, and took it very well. He also managed overnight friday to get out of his cooler and leave me a nice stain on his hip to scrub out! I will post pics soon!
