First show in a couple weeks

Apollo and I are doing our very first show in a couple weeks. He is not ready to do any of the trot or canter classes so we were going to do a few of the games just for fun.

My question- Do I need to do anything special to his mane since I'm only doing the games and not really any of the showing? His mane is sooooo long and pretty I'd hate to pull it :(

just to make him look superb i would braid it with some ribbon that compliments your tack/saddle pad, etc. that would look really nice. for game classes this would be acceptable, right? i'm thinking this is not a high level show? so no 'breed rules' or the like would apply.
