Have ypu had your EC Passport replaced?

Hi everyone,

I recently received two new passports seperatly from Equine Canada for my new horse, I'm not sure why but I'm sure it is a mistake. One is in red and one is blue. I am wondering if there is a significance on the color of the passport book, and if I should keep the second one, or throw it away. I know they are costly, and take time to replace. So should I keep the second one in a folder just in case? Will a replacement be as blank as your first one? Or do they send you your replacement with updated information, such as shows you have attended, etc?

Has anyone had a replacement EQ Passport? What was it like?

I have just a national EC passport, and it is blue. My thoughts is that the red one is probably an FEI passport, I've never actually seen a red one in real life, that is the only thing I can think of offhand. You are only allowed to hold one valid passport at a time though, if it were me I would contact EC directly and explain the situation, and they will let you know what to do from there. FEI passports have to be filled out and then sent back to EC for validation before you can use them, so hanging on to the extra red one really won't do you any good at all.

Not sure about the replacement passports, I would think it would come to you blank and then you'd just enter the new shows into it, and not worry about the past shows. The old results are recorded and archived online by EC for reference, and you have to have each entry in the passport stamped or signed by each show, which would be virtually impossible to do for shows in the past.

I would ask EC directly though if you get the chance!

Thanks AE,
The red Passport is exactly the same inside, it's just a different jacket. Are the FEI passports the exactly the same? Does anyone else have a red passport?

The new passports that the EC is issuing this year are Red. They are not FEI passports, the new covers are just red.

I don't know why they would have sent you two?? But maybe email them and see whats up.
It's weird because you should have only sent them one photo of the horse - so how would they make two passports from one photo??

An FEI passport will clearly have FEI plastered all over it and you will have had to jump through hoops, including vaccinations and more $$ to get one.

I sent in my photo online, so they could print off as many as they like.
