I am not a show person, but every show person I know who is serious about it *always* takes horses that are young or new to showing to shows just to get them used to it, no entering classes. Sometimes they take them alone, sometimes they take them with other horses that are showing that day. They may take them several times before they actually show, and when they do start entering classes, they only enter one or two easier ones. It takes time to get a horse used to a new activity, showing is no different.
