Exclamation New To Showing, Need Help!

Hi everyone, I'm new on here! I would like to start showing in the spring and summer but I'm not overly confident. I trust my horse and everything but I've just never been very confident. Some tips on confidence would be greatly appreciated! I have a few more things that tips would be helpful for!

Well, my tack isn't the newest. However, my English stuff is newer and in better shape than my Western tack.

I don't have any Western pictures as of right now. What are some techniques that you use to make your tack look shiny and new?

What should I wear for Hunter shows? They're not A rated shows or anything. Probably schooling shows to start out with.

My mare has white socks and stockings. What are some tips to keep them extra white?

I know I sound like a complete beginner but I'm just new to this whole showing process!

Hope to hear from you guys soon!

Fancy Freckles.

Hey there! Showing should be a fun experience so don't get too nervous about it! Just get out there and do your best. I went to a local hunter show last year and I wore a navy blue show jacket, a white show shirt with khaki breeches (beige is also acceptable). I had on tall boots and my hair was kept up in a hair net under my IRH helmet.

For the helmet, I've seen people who have just put a velvet helmet cover over their schooling helmet. Also, if you're a younger rider, you'd generally wear jodhpurs and garter straps with paddock boots instead of breeches and tall boots.

Hope this helps! Best of luck with showing!

Green Broke
For my tack I just use regular leather cleaner and keep the saddle covers on. As for the white socks I clip all the white hair on the legs, wash em and wrap them the night before the show. Then on show day I brush em off and put baby powder on the white area of her face, and legs.

Don't worry too much about it all till you get the hang of it and decide how competitive you really want to get. Just go out and have fun till then!! Good luck
