Well, I wasn't certain what to expect, but we had a great time at our first 4-H show. My daughter is nine and so this is our first year. She had a blast knowing today was all about her. We share my horse and I must say, it was nice not having to rush through tack changes, or having to memorize my patterns...and hers. And being on the ground where I could watch.
I've heard some 4-H horror stories and so it was a relief to make new friends today. During that process I made sure my child clapped for everyone, congratulated her fellow riders, and was polite and curteous to the judge. All and all a good day. :)
But I do wonder..why don't more leaders teach their kiddos how to ride in a show pen? My goodness. It was like static cling. Or a herd of elk. I kept telling them to spread out, LOL, but they all glomed together. All us moms just shook our heads. :)
