RESERVE CHAMPION at year end invitational!
Today was the year end Invitational for the ISHS, which is for the high schools in my area (Interschool Horse Show Series). You have to get a certain number of points throughout to qualify, and whoever wins gets the year end titles.
So I rode Bailey because it was hosted at my home barn. He was awful yesterday, so out of 19 girls, I didn't expect to place. However, he was great on warmups and I ended up getting a 1st and 3rd on flatwork. YAY!
Over fences, we had a bit of a miscommunication and didn't end up pinning. By miscommunication... I mean I wanted him to go over the jump and he didnt haha. He swerved at the last minute. I should have been there to stop him, but I had just successfully jumped the tricky broken line, and there was only one little vertical left, and I stopped paying attention I guess, and just trusted him to get over it because it was just a little single. That shows me haha, life lesson learned. A course isn't over till its OVER!
Luckily, we ended up still scraping reserve with 11 points, the other girl in my class went 4 1 1 and got champ with 17. I actually owe her one, if she hadn't gotten first over fences I might not have gotten reserve!
Thanks for reading this haha, I am just super excited.
