Schooling show lead for halter

I'm going to FINALLY be entering my barn's super laid-back schooling show on August 9th. I'm only going to get to do halter, though, because all the western classes are in the afternoon and I work in the afternoons.

I have a really nice black leather halter that I got for $10 (traded in a saddle blanket at my local tack shop and used the trade-in value toward the halter, which was $30). It's open halter, so there will be people showing in western show halters, flat leather halters, and probably even their regular halters. Like I said, this show is super laid-back (my BO even said I was fine to ride in the western classes in my Aussie saddle ).

Anyway, my problem is that I don't have a leather lead to match my halter. The only ones the tack shop had were brown. My regular lead is a black with red flecks training lead with a leather popper on it. I was wanting something a little more classy than that (besides, my lead is pretty faded), but I don't want to drop $50+ on a leather lead.

So, do you think it would be okay to go with something like this, in black, of course: Jeffers® Nylon Lead with Chain | Horse | Jeffers Pet

I thought since it was flat, it would more mimic a leather lead than a rounded cotton lead would.
Do not tell me I can't...because I will show you that I can.
