Today I rode in a show after 4 years of not showing. When I was younger I had gone to 2 shows but that was an eternity ago (or it feels like). I rode near the end of the show today, and it was HOT outside so I had lots of sweating to keep me occupied. I sweat through my show shirt and I was wearing a show coat too, so I was kind of dying in the heat.
For my classes, I did Pre Child/ Adult Hunter, 2 jumping rounds and a flat class, and Pre Child/ Adult Equitation, also 2 jumping rounds and a flat class. I was kind of upset about my Pre Child/ Adult Hunter jump rounds, because the horse that I was on, a lesson horse, was really rushing. I was trying to slow him down but he was just go go go. I think one reason being he was excited and I was nervous. I'll post the videos later if I can.
My flat classes actually went pretty well, I got 1st in one and 3rd in another (I'm assuming these were for the flat class and not jumping, I did a lot better in flat). I got 4th and 5th in my jumping rounds for Pre Child/ Adult Equitation. I don't think I placed/ got a ribbon for Pre Child/ Adult Hunter jump rounds because they were terrible (in my opinion).
The horse was really rushing the first 2 jump rounds that I did, so after that my instructor made me go canter (he was rushing at the canter) 6 times around the other arena, which was not fun in the heat. I went back in and did a good flat class and good jump rounds and another good flat class.
Overall I'd say it was a good learning experience, not my best show, but a good way to get back into showing. Just wanted to share :) I will try to post videos of my classes later if I can, I had a friend videotape them.
