Showing Shetlands

First off, I don't know crap about halter showing or ponies. I'm looking for resources to help my friend. She has 2 Shetland ponies, and her daughter is interested in showing them. They are registered, and were shown by their previous owner. My friend hasn't yet gotten the papers transferred, but they apparently won shows (anyway to get that information, as well- so far as what shows they've own or points earned?)

Does anyone know any good, beginner (beginner as is knows nothing) resources- books, websites, etc. to help them learn about showing (they halter showed previously, are trained for riding but kid is almost too big)? There isn't anything we've come across locally with ponies, but aside from googling pony shows I don't know where to start.

What other kindsa things would be fun and competitive for Shetlands that doesn't involve riding them?

We are in the Bryan/College Station area in Texas.

You can look on you tube for halter classes or showing in hand. I don't know what the correct name of the class is but there is a class for trail like obstacles in hand. They would probably be lots of fun to drive if they'll pull a cart.
