Question What Class should I show?

I am going to start showing soon! I'm really really excited but I don't know what classes to show in... It will be my first show. Any suggestions?

Well, what kind of showing? As in, ridden or inland showing, or dressage, or show jumping/working hunter? Or one of the many western disciplines I am shamefully clueless about? Tell us a bit about yourself and your horse (with pics, that's always better :P ) and we'll give you what feedback we can (:

Well I am working on Dresseage. I don't have my own horse, but I am riding a haflinger/Welsh horse named Theo. He used to be on our state dressage team. I can't decide wheather I should start with something like dressage or do showman ship or something like that.

If dressage is what you enjoy, and what your horse is good at too, why not just go for dressage? Start off at a level you know you can both do easily, so that competition nerves aren't as big a deal, and be prepared for the first couple of tests out to not be quite as good as you'd like them to be, but go for it and enjoy seeing the work you've been putting in pay off!

Other types of classes can be fun extras or even cross-training, but if dessage is what you want to do don't feel you have to start by doing something else - just start at a level that feels super easy at home, so that you can concentrate on learning about the show environment rather than putting too much pessure on your riding first time (:

Hope that helps some!
