I am taking my 3.5 month old filly in a show in a few weeks. It's nothing huge or fancy, just a small b-circuit show where we can learn. We have already practiced bathing, walking and trotting in hand, both in sight and out of sight of her mom, squaring up and backing up.
My question is, what do they judge in a foal class? I would assume conformation, but at this age, anything could change into adulthood, so what the main things they are really looking for? I would presume they also judge movement, but that again can change for better or worse into adulthood.
I've pasted some pictures below - they aren't the greatest because the flies were so bad she wouldn't stand still for long. How do you think she would do? She is really calm and docile and loves to please, so I think she'll be ok for one class in the show ring. As far as conformation goes, I think she is OK.
Would you recommend trimming her bridal path at all? She barely has anything for a mane, so that might look kind of funny. She will get a huge bathe the night before to make sure all that white is shining!
