~ National Championships -- First time around, not bad at all

Who would have thought that 3 girls from a run down barn on 3 horses that aren't exactly the best in town would have gotten through to the National Championships, where only the best from each province compete at? Not many people, actually, not even we thought we would. So I can't even begin to tell you how thrilled we all are at the fact that first time around we all made it into the provincial teams!

Going back a little bit in time, it's hard to believe how these horses used to be...

...the horse LoveStory10 jumps (which is Love Story) was really loony at first and turned out at any opportunity she could get. Now she has gotten slightly lazy and never even thinks about turning out anymore...

...the horse our other friend jumps (Bishop) used to put in really nasty stops just before he lost his eye. Now (even though he only has one eye) he jumps like a dream even though he is extremely lazy...

...coming to the horse I took to the Nationals (Damper), when my instructor first got her she was a psycho horse that would try to run a person into a wall. Now, even though she still has her few crazy moments, she never turns out and jumps really well for a 13hh Nooitgedacht.

Coming back to the present, the Nationals went really well. We were all not that nervous. The great thing is that in my one class I placed 24th out of 81 other riders! I was really surprised that my little "donkey" did so well against the other expensive horses that were in the same class. In my second class I had a pole knocked down, so I don't know what place I came in there. All in all, this show was a very good one. We are really pleased with our horses.

Next year we are going to take part in the interschools again, this time me on Night Heat, LoveStory10 still on Love Story and our friend on Enchello.

Below I just added a few pics for fun. The dark bay mare is Love Story, the grey pony is Damper and the bay is Bishop.
