My Best Friend (Cody's Story)...

I composed this early on this morning as I was thinking about my favorite pony, Cody. If you have any comments, criticism or even critique I would LOVE to hear it! Please take the time to read, and enjoy!

You arrived one fine morning,
Ignored by nearly everyone.
I went about my usual work,
Not aware of what was to come...

That evening I was working late,
As Jose was walking you by.
I studied you for a moment or two,
And let out a joyful cry!

You had a beautiful Buckskin coat,
And deep brown puppy dog eyes.
With all your stunning features,
You really had caught my eye!

Your soft nicker soon filled the air,
I rubbed your velvety nose.
Grabbing my saddle and bridle,
Then grooming you head-to-toe.

It was early January of 2006,
I hopped right on your back.
You threw me off without a cause,
Abruptly followed by your tack.

You continued to buck and rear,
You wouldn't stay on the rail.
I trained you still for endless days,
And look how far we've come!

Four years slowly passed by,
Oh! My beautiful boy.
For you are perfect in every way!
He knew it all,
A shining star,
I knew we'd make it someday!

His walk and trot were flawless,
His canter, sheer perfection.
He soared through the air,
With such great ease,
3"3 jumps were now a breeze!

He and I had formed a team,
Even attended the local shows!
1st place in all our classes,
Grand Champion, way to go!

And to this day I can be found,
Astride my favorite horse.
Cody my lovely Mustang,
Cody, my best friend...
