The seller is calling it a park seat saddle-I don't see that at all-to me that would be much flatter. It looks good to me & I see the indentations as Pockets where a rider's seat bones have been. An English made English saddle for that price seems like a great bargain to me-especially since you want that size & it's not all that common. Let us know how you like it after you get it!

That's my concern too when I saw the price.

A few others I'm watching with the same wrinkles. I'm hoping it's just wear and tear. I just want one for "it's to flipping hot out but I want to ride anyway" days. Save me from dragging out the heavy western saddles.

I'd appreciate it. So hard to tell from pictures sometimes.

Sorry - most definitely not an old saddleseat saddle. Not a wide enough flap nor long enough seat. I don't know Barnsby ever produced them, though they might have. From the plate this was probably made late 1970s - mid 1980s.

It might have been a dressage model but my guess is a GP - it's got more of an old hunting style flap. You may find it should have three girth webs. Linen web rots over time and the single width first web may have been removed if this happened.

A complete steal even including the postage!

Is it safe to ride In Without the third billet? Or will I need to get it replaced. (also, I assume gp means general purpose but please correct me of I am mistaken)

Sorry - I forgot you usually call them AP over there.

It'll be fine without the extra strap.

Having three was a safety device. You usually buckled the girth on the first and third straps which were on separate webs. So if one web broke the saddle was still held on the horse. Nowadays the nylon webs used are never going to break so this isn't so much of an issue.

All you need to do is check the stitching is sound where the billets attach - easy enough to do as you girth-up.

Did you get a tracking number? If you did, it's pretty accurate for the delivery date.

I won't pretend to know anything about english saddles, but I do know you will need a lot of parts before you ride with it. I'd have bought a complete one but $27 ain't much.
