Looking around on ebay for used field boots and found ehimalayas. Has anyone ever tried these out? I'm hard to fit, but always thought anything like custom was way out of my range... I'd be willing to compromise a bit on quality to get the right fit for my skinny calves!
have you tried on Ariat boots?
I have skinny calves and narrow feet.
I got a pair of the ariat heritage II field boots (with a zipper) and they fit me like a glove!
I haven't heard of the himalayas. I would see if a tack shop had those boots in and try them on before getting them off ebay.
I too second ariat field boots. I'm pretty tiny all around, and nothing seemed to fit me correctly--cept my ariats!
darn you appylover! Mine don't have zippers though. *SAD FACE!*
Years ago, when my wife used to ride, we took a pair of boots that she liked to a shoe maker. He "custom" shaped the boot for her and installed a zipper in the back. It ended up costing 1/3 the cost of true custom boots.
Thanks for the advice. I have Ariat Heritage II paddock boots and love them. I'll check up the sizing chart. Cool idea about having a shoemaker remake off the shelf into custom too.
