It is common to use boots or shoes in the front. Being shod in the front is called pasture shod. Because the horse carries 60 to 65 % of its entire weight on the front many beleive that the horse wears out its front feet more often. I have had horses pasture shot or I have booted in the front only because it was thier front feet that tended to be a bit tender or what have you. I have used Easy boots (with the gators.....which I recommend) with great success. Some gaiting problems can be helped byt shoeing the front and leaving the rear free from shoes.
