Abetta or Wintec

Hi! I've had a hard time fitting my gelding to a saddle in my budget, so I'm going the synthetic route. I'm riding him in a semi western wintec right now, but I don't find it overly comfortable. So I was thinking of trying an abetta saddle. Anyone know comfort wise how they are? And how's the fit horse wise to a wintec?

Well, I don't have any experience with Wintec, but so far I'm very happy with my Abetta saddle. I wanted something very lightweight and the one I got (this one from Chick's Saddlery) is only 17 pounds. It fits my horse very well.

Which is more comfortable, hard to say, everyone says both brands are good and bad.

I do not like Wintec for several reasons, mainly I have found that 2 of the same models fit differently, not very consistent, so I would always chose an Abetta.

Abetta all the way. My Wintec tree broke after just 2 years of use causing me to fly over my horse's head. My friend's Wintec tree broke as well (no accident, but he had to walk the horse and saddle left overs 2 miles back to the house).

I've heard great things about the endurance or western abettas. I have an endurance abetta that my daughter uses and she loves it. As for sitting in it, it is quite comfy! I have a Wintec dressage that I use on my short backed horses and it is SUPER as well, but then again it's english...

I used to own a part synthetic/part leather big horn and LOVED LOVED LOVED that one but they only make full QH bars now on most of those (I'm shopping for an endurance model) and my horses are all too narrow for it.

I love the endurance abettas - western is no different other than the horn - and they clean up so nice with a little Dawn liquid soap, some high pressure from the hose, and a little dry time on the fence outside in a shady spot!

I'm a huge Wintec fan! I can't speak for Abetta, but Wintec always makes excellent quality saddles and equipment. I'm a Wintec customer for life! :)

You might also look at Fabtron western synthetic saddles. So far I'm loving the Lady Trail I bought used earlier this summer. Just had an awesome ride in it last night, matter of fact... :)

Tried a couple of English Wintec....NOT good for my long legs, didn't like at all......sat in an Abetta Western....felt comfy but have to see if it fits my horse.

Abetta...Hands down :) Next would be Fabtron.
