I've got both knots made and done, but I've not got the measurement length figured out yet. I also want to get some stiffer rope then what I've got.( I've got that slippery nylon diamond braid type stuff so flexible that it just flops..) I'll probably get that close line rope you suggested... I'm waiting on the lariat rope till I can check out what we've got around here. I'll let you know either way. Thanks for offering!

I found some lariat rope around here, should I cut 2' for the3 nose band, as in you said 11" high so that would be roughly 22" around so 24" to be safe with /knot?

I found some lariat rope, do you think about 24" total would be fine?

I think so, maybe give yourself a couple of inches more so you have plenty for your knots :)

So I'm finally finishing the hackamore that's been laying around waiting to be done.

I've got the headstall found waiting to be fixed and used, the fiador knot & jug knot are tied to make the throat latch "thingy" ( I used 15' of 1/4" rope), now I am working on the turks heads for the end of the lariat rope ends... I'll try to post pictures when I'm done!

Here are some pictures of it without the bridle. The bridle needs some cleaning & repairing so I won't post pictures of that until I've got that done.

The nose-band is only 10" because I want to use it on a smaller horse, farther down the road.

I do have a chain-link under the big Turks head knot. It's on pretty tight so I doubt it will slide off.

Tell me what you think...

(I can't select the attachment for the photos right now...Sorry!)

That's cool!!! Can't wait to see it when you get the headstall put on it, you'll have to post pics of it on your horse ;)

I connected the bridle, but since the throat latch is made of rope the brow-band is loose, so for now until I get it sewn up so it's tighter I just wrapped some string in it to make it tighter. I tried it on the horse and it seems to fit. :)

So now, how does a person put the reins on? What length are they? Is it the reins that are one long length? Or are they split? Length?
