Anyone heard of WJ Wyman dressage saddles?

I have inherited a 17" dressage saddle that has manufacturer plates under the front flap on each side that say "WJ Wyman" on the top line, with "Lake Forest IL" underneath. Has anyone ever heard of this saddle maker or any experience with one of these saddles? It is comfortable and fits a fairly large animal but I can't find any information on this maker on the Internet so it must be older than I thought! Any information welcome.

Wyman Saddle

I was just given a Wyman saddle by a friend with the same plates. She used it as a jumping saddle when she was younger, and before that she said it was an old Army saddle. So I'm assuming the saddler she gave me is at least 50 years old. It is in pretty good condition, but I am using it more as decoration in my home and not for riding. Hope this helps!

W J Wyman Saddle

W. J. Wyman was my grandfather. He was apprenticed to a Chicago saddle maker (Olbeter) and actually married his daughter. W J Wyman had a Chicago shop but eventually moved it to Lake Forest. Family lore has it that he was a highly skilled craftsman having made tack for "Black Jack" Pershing and an American president. I think Woodrow Wilson. If you get this would you please send me some photos of your saddle.

W J Wyman Saddles

I have been thinking of my earlier post about my grandfather's saddle making. I think I made an error in stating that he made a saddle for Woodrow Wilson. Upon further reflection I think the saddle was for President Warren G Harding according to information my late mother (Wyman's daughter) passed on to me.

I own a Leather shop in Colorado, I just got in a WJ Wyman saddle to clean and condition, it really turned out nice and I would love to be able to give the owner all of the History that anyone may be able to get to me, if there is more known of course. I am not sure how to get anyone a photo, I am new to this site.
