Barrel Saddles - are they good for Hafis?

Hi! I have the option of getting a barrel saddle in hopes of use on our Haflinger who is rather broad and stocky as they normally are.. Does anyone have any experience with barrel saddles for use on a broader size horse. Thank you in advance for your help!!

Barrel saddles tend to be a bit more narrow, not all have FQHB which is what you are probably looking for!:P

Make sure you talk to the company because some company's "regular" bars are full bars and some company's "regular" bars are semi. If possible when you find a saddle send pictures of your horse to the company to see what they think, unless your going to a tack store near you, then bring your horse. That will help ensure what your getting will work. Just a few ideas, good luck!

.

Barrel Saddles for the most part come in 2 sizes, semi-QQ and Full-QH

And then off course Haffies come in more sizes than that when it comes to saddle fitting

A saddle fitter or taking some measurements with templates or the wire method would give you a better idea of where to start looking

Is there a good way to take measurements. Similiar to measuring for a horse blanket, I am sure there are right and wrong ways to measure and I want to make sure I right :)

Thanks again for all of the good posts!!
