Best Dressage Saddle

What saddle would you recomend for dressage training and training level and introductory shows? Maybe one that won't be bad if I manage to get to higher levels too.

My price range is less than $1500, I am happy with synthetic or quality leather. Something adjustable would be nice, I really like the genesis system, and things similar to it.

I had a wintec dressage (the one for around $500) and loved it. Apparently so did the thief.

I understand every horse is unique, so don't worry about that, I will make sure it fits him. I just want to know where I should start looking.

It depends on so many factors. do you want a deep seat type, do you like a narrow or a wide twist, do you want it to have thick thigh blocks all kind of things.

I am on the short /fat side. I like a saddle with a narrow twist, and not so deep of a seat, and medium knee/thigh blocks. my favorite saddle maker in general is Passier. But, I ride in a Klimke because that's what I happened to kind of inherit.

you ask 10 riders which saddle is best and i'll bet you get 10 different answers.

LOL isn't that the truth. I just purchased my trainer's old County Competitor off her and I LOVE this saddle. It has a nice deep seat, shorter leg flaps, and knee rolls rather than blocks. I've also ridden in her other County saddles (it's the only brand she buys) and have found all of them to be quite comfortable. I just recently let one of the other girls at the barn ride in my saddle this past week & she really liked it as well. Before this I owned an Albion that I liked, but not nearly as much as the County. The seat just wasn't as deep or secure feeling for me & I just wasn't a fan of the more knee block style to the rolls. My advice is to figure out some of the good brands - see what people like - then try them for yourself. Not everyone finds the same saddle comfortable. Then of course everyone has different models too >.>

I recommend going to a saddle fitter/store and demoing all the dressage saddles in your price range on both yourself and whilst on your horse.
SketchyHorse and Bagheera like this.
