Well, the Albacon is only like 35 and it's a decent bit

Yeah that's the one I have ordered.. should get there sometime by next week and we'll see how it goes.

But it's nice to know I have other options :)

Sky, I'd go for Stubben personally. Both my mares we OK with Albacon (that's what I started them in), but prefer the oval mouth I use right now. You can also look into Mikmar (Mikmar Bit Company). That's what I use and I believe it's about same price as Stubben (I may be wrong though).

P.S. Both my horses liked Mikmar over KK Ultra. In fact my qh didn't like KK much at all. So if you can borrow to try - fine, but I wouldn't pour the money into one personally.

OK... I posted and then saw you ordered already. Good luck with one! Albacons are very decent bits too!

Yeah I did like the look of that Stubben. What I've decided is to try the Albacon.. and if it's not quite his favourite then try the Stubben.. and if that doesn't work then we'll keep on trying bits! But he's not doing well in his current bit.

I don't want to post the video on the forum since it isn't mine but would you have a look Kitten_Val if I sent you the link?

Also had a look on their site.. they don't have 5 3/4 (5.75) only 5.5 :(

Sure! :)

Yes, sizing is a HUGE pain. I was forced to go with Mikmar at 1st, because it was the cheapest one I could find to be 3-link + eggbutt + size 5 1/4 (not a typical size). And then my horse liked it so much I switched my paint to Mikmar as well.

Hey everyone, just a follow up!

Sky LOVES his new bit! I'm waiting on a video update so I can see it for myself but he is cloud nine happy with the lack of nutcracker action :)

Cannot wait to get him back in schooling so he can work on his basic Dressage with it.

I wish I could give a more comprehensive review but I'm not there in the flesh unfortunately!

But it seems really nice quality and it makes my horse happy so yay!

We did order some bit guards to have on-hand incase there is pinching but so far without them he is a happy meadow lark :)

Thanks for all the votes!
