I've recently started training my young horse and he has taken to everything like a duck to water. The only thing that he cannot get used to is the bit - he just cannot seem to get completely used to it. He's always irritated and distracted when I put his bridle on. He's very alert and curious and is constantly looking at one thing or the other. He has an elliptical mouthpiece with a full cheek (no noseband, but I'm using the keepers). Now I was wondering whether it could be the bit that is a tad too "busy" for him. Maybe the cheek pieces are giving him a sensory overload or something. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
