    bit advice please :)

So in between jumps my horse likes to shove his head down and go really fast. I can't get my lead changes because he doesnt give me a chance to ask. Pulling hos head up only gets me so far. My trainer mentioned somethig about trying a new bit because doesnt respond well to my hunter D which I have right now. I don't know much about bits so any advice or suggestions would help! Thanks !

The bit is not the problem - your horse is pulling you out of the tack and will continue to do so regardless of any type of metal contraption you put in his face. The horse pulling down is a symptom of a rider's ineffective seat.
Learn to ride with a stable seat and do not give him the leverage to pull you out of the tack. Lunge lessons without stirrups and reins would be beneficial for both you and your horse (with the horse in properly adjusted side reins).

    Good luck!

The problem is not the bit - and there is no magic bit that will fix what is going wrong for you right now. My best advice would be to take a break from jumping and focus on developing a better seat and a more responsive mount.

I agree, it sounds like you need to take a break from going over fences for a while and build yourself an assertive seat. Also maybe some ground exercises on halter to gain respect because it seams to me that when you need to be in charge the most your horse says "your not in charge, I am ha ha"

When flating we have no problem. He's perfect and he's responsive and respectful. When he jumps he gets excited. Never tried to buck just get excited in between jumps.
