Bit w/ Curb Chain?

So here's the deal. When we first got our pony she had been ridden with a heavy hand and had become unruly and often hard to slow down or balance because of it. I ride with a much lighter hand, but when we got her my instructor had me ride with a bit that had a curb chain for the first month or so just to get her attention and make it clear to her that while I used a lighter hand she still needed to pay attention. Things went great, she became a much happier, responsive girl and we have been riding her in an oval link snaffle for years now.

Then I went to college.

My sister is a less experienced rider and she hasn't been able to ride the pony often enough. The pony got stubborn, and my sister's response was to get gradually more and more heavy handed without even really knowing it. The last time that I got on her, she seemed to have "regressed" terribly. She just wants to charge through my aids.

I want to do what I can to get her tuned back up while I'm home for the summer. So... should I go back to using a bit with a curb chain just until I can get her attention back? A lot of this stems from the fact that she's got a spicy little attitude and doesn't always think that she should do what's asked of her.

If it worked for you once, and you remember how to apply it correctly, why not? Its either that or take the old fashion route of "ask, tell, demand, DO IT NOW HORSE" (for those extra stubborn ones lol) which may take longer, but you'd be better able to teach your sister how to apply this method as well.
