Blanket fitting.

Yup,, me again :) need more opinions, again...lol

I measured Flopsy (my 14.1 hand pony) for blankets and Everytime it is saying she is a 72. Which, no way in hell is she a 72. Lol. My Appy gelding was a 72 so I had an extra blanket. I tried it on her and it was just way too big everywhere. Every horse that I've measured from the middle of their chest to the middle of their tale it has always got me a great fit for their blanket. Nope, not her! I was also told that now some companies want you to measure from there shoulder to the middle of their tail. I'm not sure how I'm supposed to get her blanket size now. I was just going to chalk it up and buy a 69/70.

Any opinions/input?

My mare is 14.1 1/2hh and wears a 72 so it's completely possible.

Also - check each manufacturers measuring guide as some have you measure center of chest to point of buttocks (not center of tail) where as others have you go point of shoulder to the center of tail, etc. also, some run large (weatherbeeta for example) while others are more true to size. Berry wears a 72 in most brands but a 69 in a weatherbeeta.

Is she really narrow? Is the blanket big in length wither to knee, or length chest to tail?

My gelding is only 15.1hh, and wears an 80". It's a little long chest to tail, but he's so wide, that anything smaller is too tight in the shoulder.

It's just big all around. The whole blanket is just too big. It hangs below her knees and the tail flap is halfway down her tail. She's got a narrow shoulder and chest but a big belly and butt. I tried a 72 sized blanket on her which is how I know it was too big.
