this is the rain sheet (they don't have the exact one that i have anymore as it's 6 years old at this point but this is the updated version - Bucas Sun Shower Turnout) and this is the turnout blanket (Bucas Power Turnout) for winter. something more like the sun shower turnout might work best for you.
I ordered a wool cooler and I will use that after a workout to cool her down, and when it gets down to like 45 at night I will use the cooler under the unlined rain sheet that I have. I will use the mid-weight blanket when it gets colder.

I just looked at those turnouts, I LIKE those! Those might have to be a goal for me.

I also am having issues deciding what to do over the winter. My boys were out all last winter (here in Southern Ontario) without blankets and were fine. I want to get them waterproof turn outs with no fill (Rainsheet I guess?) - for different reasons. 1-to keep them clean during this time of the year, muddy season 2. to keep them dry during heavy rain or snow.

Anyone see any issues with this? Will they need to wear the rainsheet each and every day in the winter, or can I just put it on them according to the forecast? I am not really doing this to keep them warm, they were fine with that, I want to do it so they can stay out during wetter weather - because they would much rather be outside!

They do have access to unlimited hay and shelter.

These are the blankets I am considering:

I never knew what a cooler was, but because of the name I assumed it was for, well, cooling... haha. There is so much equipment out there. Thanks for the advice.

Here's a link to Schneider's warmth guide. It's pretty right on and gives you options for clipped close, not clipped, to maintian current coat condition or to improve coat condition. I find it works pretty well for me.
