Question Blankets

Hey all. I need some advice about blankets.
So, I live in Midwestern Wisconsin, so winters are rather bitter. I usually didn't blanket my TB very often, but this winter we are at a new barn and he is getting rather beaten up. It's been several months, and even with the pecking order established, his pasture mates still bite the crap out of him. So, regardless of the harsh winters, I put his blanket on...only for it to be torn to shreds within a week from the bites of the other horses. I need a new blanket, but I'm not sure what to look for. I need something tough, but I also don't want to spend a TON. I'm thinking in the $100.00 range...maybe a little more. I've looked at some that advertise a " Rip Stop Nylon Outer Shell" and was wondering about it. Does it work? Does it mean the bites from the others shouldn't be a problem?
This is one of the blankets I have been looking at, but probably a bit heavier. Saxon 1200D Turnout Blanket 150g - Horse.com

The higher the denier the better the chances, but no blanket will survive being picked on by multiple pasture mates. You can get one of the higher quality blankets which have guarantees, but you'll be spending closer to $200.

Jefferspet dot com currently has their 2014 Romper Stomper Medium Weight Turnout Blankets for $89.99. It's 1680 Denier, 240g fill. If you are set on blanketing, maybe consider purchasing several at this price.

I'd either go for the cheapest 1200+D blanket you can find and plan on replacing it yearly, or spend more for one with a good guarantee. The best guarantee I've seen is SmartPak's Ultimate Turnout Blanket, which has a 10 year "indestructible" guarantee. It runs $200, but they have a 15% off sale that ends today. The downside with that one is that it only comes in a light and medium weight, and I suspect you might want heavy weight for your area.
