Body Protectors!

Hi,

I'm interested to know what you all think to body protectors, do you wear them, just at certain times or all the time etc?

I honestly have never worn one. I'm starting to think I should. Especially after my bad fall before Christmas. Although that is almost six months ago and I've still not bought one!!!!

I personaly don't own one but i'm looking for a good one at a low price that I can buy. I need one o I can start to show my friends horse in cross country since they are required on the cross country course now. The only time that I have worn one is when I do the kids steeplechase because almost every year someone falls off. If you know anyone that's selling one that I can use for cross country please let me know!!!

I should. Bad me.

It's just that it is really sunny and hot out here, and I wear a cowboy hat for shade. I would look like a lobster if I didn't. Until they make a helmet with a nice shade brim, I'll just not use one. They have one with a tiny brim, but it doesn't help that much in the hot sun. Even with sunblock, I'd be blistered after a 2 - 4 hr. Ride. :( I usually wear long thin sleeves, jeans, and my cowboy hat! Besides, (so far) that is not the part of my anatomy that I land on!

Here is a pic of me with my cowboy hat. I have short sleeves here, but I changed after this pic was taken to long sleeves.

I have nver used one. But the biggest I jump is 90cm and I,ve only ever done cross country at 85. If I was a serious eventer then I would buy one.

I have a young, green, 4 year old TB, I should probably wear one, but I don't.

I wear one for jumping lessons outside an arena (in my mind for some reason there's more reason to? - don't ask me to be logical), cross country because it's dangerous and they ake me anyway, and for riding horses I don't trust, especially over jumps.

I hate the thing. It's hot and uncomfortable and makes my riding worse. It's EVIL. But I wear it anyway. *grumbles* You'd never see me wearing it for normal 'safer' stuff though - I try to get away with not wearing it as much as possible. Which maybe I shouldn't do, but hey ho.

I use one when I jump 4ft or higher. Just because I have seen people get seriously hurt when jumping without one and I have to wear one for x-country. It doesn't affect my riding at all and I don't think it is uncomforable but I did have to pay $212 for it. But I love it and I use it ALOT!!!
Here is a pic of me with it on.
