Bought this at a garage sale today... Turns out its a "saddle trunk" Help please.
Hi everyone.
I know NOTHING about horses or supplies. I was doing my weekly garage saleing and came across this item. It looked interesting so I bought it for a few bucks. I was wondering if anyone can tell me what exactly it is, what it's for, and what it's worth in used condition.
I found a little information on the website of the company but it's japanese to me since I do not know any horse terms.
It is a little rusty and dirty but I should be able to get it cleaned up before I put it on Ebay. I am just looking for a starting place price wise since I have no clue what something like this would sell for.
You might be able to look it up in www.dover.com their catalog is nice.
You could google tack trunk and see if you can find a price there.
If you were closer I might be interested.
Might want to sell it in craigs list as hipping will be a fortune if you sell it on ebay.
good luck
Thank you! It's selling on that site for over $600 new! Wooo looks like a good
find! Now I just need to find someone to sell it too
Thanks again.
BTW I'm in SoCal if anyone is interested. Posted via Mobile Device
OK, Good news and BAD news. The good news is, I was able to get it cleaned up and take pictures, The bad news is, I took it to a "do it yourself" carwash to clean it, and I dropped it while taking it out of the truck (DOH!!!).... This basically MINT Saddle trunk is now, damaged. .... I have posted pics of the damage it caused, It now has a small gap when you close it and a small piece of plastic broke off. It is still functional and might be able to be repaired, I am just not a handy person. Totally bummed about this. Hopefully it is still worth something. I was planning on asking around $300 but now, I will be taking offers, I live in the L.A. area if anyone is interested.
I should also note, the discoloration is because it is still wet from the car wash.
Also, the dry erase board is warped but can easily be replaced or maybe even flattened out and screwed back down. (see last pic)
Sounds like almost everyone is on the other side of the U.S. I think I will start with Craigslist and if I don't have luck there, I will try Ebay. Thanks for all your help
Get on the UPS and the USPS sites to get an idea of shipping costs. If you put it on ebay, that is a question you will get. UPS will box it for you at a cost so you may want to get your ducks in a row if you go that route.
ughhhh I wish I could sell this thing! I could use the money! I just don't haven't had time to make flyers and such. Anyone know of a forum like this for So Cal? That would make life much much easier!
I wish I could find stuff like that around here! It's all old dolls and smelly clothes in the garage sales around my place >.>" best of luck selling it! you could try kijiji aswell ( or is that just a Canadian site? )
ebay has a classified section-you could specify buyer pick-up only. shipping this would be a nightmare. Also if you're near a consignment shop-Thrifty Horse in Norco is one, & there are others. Craig's List would probably move it fairly quickly, just make sure folks can contact you. If there is a nearby show this W/E, I think an exhibitor might be interested. Good luck.
Hey everyone.
I FINALLY SOLD IT!
I wanted to thank you all for your help, I put it on Ebay several times with local pick-up and someone finally bid and picked it up today!
Made a nice $200 woo hoo!
Now if any of you know anything about antique sewing machines that is my latest garage sale find
Thanks a million all!
