Bought saddle & not as described

I got a saddle off Craigslist. It is a Circle Y synthetic. I paid $250 with shipping.

It was advertised as a 19 inch in great shape.

It came yesterday and is a 17 inch with gouges and scratches.

I emailed the seller and sent pics of the measurements and scratches and have not heard back from them (of course).

I paid through paypal, should I do a chargeback? Do I have to prove I sent it back (delivery conformation) to do that?

Sadly, Craigslist is full of liars. I wouldn't necessarily get mad because some people don't know how to measure saddles and the chances are, one of you guys are measuring wrong. Did you get her phone number like I advised in the last post you had?

You can, and should, file a claim with Paypal. I know in some instances they refund money, or part of the money. Did you save the wording from the origional ad? That might help you a bit with proving it wasn't as described. I'd get right on filing a claim with Paypal. Good luck and I hope you get it sorted out- whether the seller fesses up and fixes it, or Paypal fixes them for you.

I do have her phone number. I was just waiting to hear from her. There was even bird feathers in the box. Big black ones! The saddle was covered in cobwebs and junk.

File a dispute with Paypal. If she STILL doesn't respond, escalate to a claim. Paypal doesn't always make you ship an item back especially if they don't respond. I had this happen with a motorcycle helmet. The ad said order a size bigger as they run small. I did and it was HUGE! When I contacted the seller, their "solution" was to just buy a new one as shipping would have cost just as much as what I paid! I copied all the sellers emails in the claim and Paypal ruled in my favor and didn't have me send it back to get the refund.

Oh I don't care about sending it back, I just wasn't sure if I had to send it back first.

I wouldn't send it back just yet, it might cause you more problems if it "goes missing" in the post or they claim it to be damaged on route back to them. Keep a note of everything you say to them and if you get any response. Might also be worth contacting paypal and ask them what you should do, then follow their guidelines so you have done everything they want. That should increase your chance of getting your money back.
Good luck!

Yes, I would start a complaint process through Paypal immediately.

Circle Y never made a 19" synthetic saddle.
