Breast/chest plate for jumping?

Hi, wondering what you all use when jumping/eventing to prevent your saddle from slipping back? I don't need any kind of martingale or attachment, but by the looks of recent photos, I may need something to keep my saddle in place. Any recommendations? Also, what are the differences in them? Some have a padded section at the shoulder? Is that a do or don't need? Thanks!

Nunn Finer Hunting Breastplate : Legacy Tack

This is what I use except mine is black. I'd recommend it without elastic, but to each their own. Just a basic breastplate like this will do.

OK great, thanks EventerDrew! I like the simplicity of that one. Not knowing anything about them or ever using a martingale makes it tough to know what to get and how much to spend.

You can find some decent ones for reasonably priced. Personally I am getting an HDR Pro Heart Shaped breastplate, with elastic. For jumping the elastic provides the security while still giving the horse freedom of movement, especially over XC fences.

Elastic also does not allow the saddle stay in place if that's what you're looking for.

Like I said, to each his own. But you're welcome! :)

I mostly use a hunting breastplate like the one Drew showed. If a horse has a problem with a saddle slipping back, an even more secure option is a 5-point breastplate.

Perfect for eventing and jumping.....not so much in the hunter ring, though.
