Breast collar size for quarter horse? Cob or full?

Hi! Tomorrow I'm finally going to a tack store to buy some things I'm missing, first of all, a western leather breast collar! I'm unsure about what size to choose for a QH! My boy is 15.1 hands.. I'm adding a picture as soon as I manage to!

My chunky 14.1hh Arab wears a full size Billy Cook breastcollar [on the second to smallest holes, but cob is too small]...so I'm sure your QH will take a full as well.

He's cute!

Rest peacefully, Lacey.

I bought a full size collar for my 14.2 hh arab x mare, I needed to make some adjustments (punched extra holes so I could make it a bit smaller) but it wasn't too hard. I'm not sure if a cob size would have been too small, but this one works fine now.

I've never seen western tack advertised as "cob" or "full." Those are English terms and most western tack is sized for Quarter Horses, so unless he is unusually small or large most western tack should fit your Quarter Horse.

Now I used to have Arabians and I was constantly punching holes in my breast collars and headstalls to make them smaller. But you should not have that problem.

PS. Cob sized English bridles used to fit my Arabians perfectly, so if I was picking English tack for a QH, I would choose "full."

I'd take a full for sure. My mare is very narrow and not stocky, i use a full size breastcollar on her and i simply punched new holes in it to make it a bit smaller :)
