Generally the plate goes on the crown piece, kind of by your horse's ear. I've never seen it done but I suppose you could put it on the cheekpiece, if it was narrow enough (it might be too wide).

Yes, it was George Morris who hate nameplates. He is ultra conservative but his argument is that the focus and attention should be placed on the horse. Any type of bling is just a distraction from what should be the center of attention.

I guess I see his point. I wouldn't want to take away from my horse's glory But I still think I'll keep using them... at least for now.

We put dog tags on our bridles... it works quite well and isn't distracting.

dog tags like the little round ones I assume? You don't mean dog tags like military tags right? I'd think those would be too big. Where do you attach them to? The buckles on the cheek piece or something? I rather like this idea...

Yep round dog collar tags on the cheekpiece buckle. It works really well and you can move and attach them yourself which is definitely nice.
