To buy one or not to buy one (Advice Needed)

Well I saved up quite a bit for a new saddle, just something thats been in my head. Now I would like to get into three day eventing -- but I've got my all purpose saddle. But I've also loved sporting and stuff, we will be spending a bit of time down the farm although its not much only about once a year. I have also found a trail near by that I would like to head down a heap of times, so I was thinking about a stock saddle. It would be excellent to ride in because its different to my all purpose saddle.


So whats your advice, get a dressage/jumping saddle that wouldn't exactly be to much of a change and similar to my all purpose saddle or get a stock saddle, that we could ride on the farms and trails and have a whole new ball game with.

I would get a jumping saddle. You can still hack out in your english tack- I do.

i dont like jumping saddles for hacking at all, they puch you forward in your seat i would say get a stock saddle and have a really good time in a more comfy position

I think get a stock saddle since you already have a general purpose saddle. Although remember, you can't do higher levels in a general purpose saddle. Then you would need a seperate dressage and jumping saddle.

Thanks guys, I would like to stay in lower level for now. I know my aunty has a stock saddle so if it fits then we can trial in that.

Okay. The stock saddle will then be a great idea. That is nice that you won't have to go and buy a new saddle if your aunt have one. Enjoy.

Yeahh, I can only borrow it for a bit though as she needs it for what its meant to be used for ((herding animals)) at the farm.

I say get a dressage saddle. They are always great to have. Your AP can be used for jumping events, and your dressage for dressage and little hack shows.
And if you decide you like dressage better, than you have a saddle for it.
A stock is good for PC, and sporting but I'm assuming you and Chinga are serious about slowly advancing.

Yeahh I've only had him for 7 months ((seems like a long time)) and we have really only just started in the show world, I think I might hunt a stock saddle down at the farm and I have a feeling I can get a dressage saddle somewhere -- because I'm magic otherwise I'll just have to buy the saddle I end up choosing.

Jumping saddles will give you a good seat because they are harder to sit and ride in, I have seen people, sport, Jump and trail in jumping saddles and have been told by good riders including my old instructor that jumping saddles give you a good seat as they are not as easy to ride in when your not use to them...
