smartPak's deal is pretty nice. They send you a brand new one to try, if you like it, they finish processing the credit card and you keep the aaddle, if not, you send it back with the return label included with it and they send you another one.

I got one from chick saddlery and I love it annd I only paid $400 for it and it fits me and my horse really good. So yes I think buying saddles online is a good idea and you can find them much cheaper then in a local tack store.

Online Saddle shops

I know a great online tack shop. They offer a week long trial period and if the saddle doesn't fit, you can send it back with out a restocking fee as long as the saddle is clean, undamaged and there are no signs of abrasion on the flaps. You send them a wither tracing so they will know what size saddle/saddles to send you. If you are interested in learning more, check out the website, My beautiful online saddle and tack store.. There is an article on how to make a wither tracing and how to fit a saddle to your horse.

I would only buy a saddle online if I had already tried the same model, knew it fit both of us generally, could be easily adjusted, and it was a much better price than what I would get in person. My saddle fitter is amazing, which makes me much more confident. I would never buy a model I had not previously tried.

This is not true (at least when it comes to English saddles all stores I contacted or ordered from to try didn't charge any).
