Can you Dye saddle pads?

So I want a royal blue fleece contoured pad and I can't find them anywhere. I have searched to the moon and back. So now I am thinking about buying a white one and dying it. Do you think this will work? Has anyone ever done this before, tips?

I was thinking buy the saddle pad, buy the dye powder from like Wal Mart or a craft store and then just dye it as per instructions on the box. Let is soak for a good few hours, wash it (at the laundromat, my mum would kill me if I dyed the washer), and then dry it. Then of course USE IT! Haha

I really don't think that would work out. Most of the dye that you buy at wal-mart and such is not colorfast, which means that it will bleed and run every time it gets wet. If you work a horse in it and they get sweaty, it will not only color their back blue (which could cause a reaction if there are any chemicals that the horse is sensitive to in the dye), but it will also stain the fleece on your saddle and whatever else it comes in contact with.

You would be much better off getting a saddle blanket in the color that you want (they are much easier to find) and using it over the top of your pad.

Why not check the fabric center for the color you want and sew one to fit your pad.

We don't have a sewing machine or anything, I wouldn't even know where to start with that. Hmmm that's a good idea though
