can you shorten a saddle pad?

I recently bought a new saddle pad online and it turned out to be bigger than what I needed. I really like it and don't want to get rid of it because its the exact color im looking for.is there anybody that can shorten it for me?its a navajo blanket but it is thick and heavy.i need it about 2-3 inches shorter.if this is possible please let me know!!!

Unless you are a seamstress I would rely on a pro. See if there is anyone in your area who does that sort of thing. A good place to start is a dry cleaners or upholstery shop.
